Romans 8:31-35

Here in Romans is a great peak in the entire Bible. Like from a mountain you can see so much, here we can see so much about what it means to be living in Christ.

Look at what we've learned so far; God has saved us and welcomed us into His family. We inherit the riches and power that come from being a child of God.

What is our reaction? Paul here is stunned, but he points out - if this God is for us, then what can stand against us?

What does this mean?

How could God really care about me? An often asked question which Paul answers by taking us to the cross. Here there is no doubt that God really cares. He gave everything He had for us, so why would He not give anything to us if we ask Him.

Also if we are in Him, then only He can bring any charge or judgement against us. Since only God can, and we are justified before God, He cannot find fault in us. We are forgiven.

Jesus is like our defence lawyer. He knows our sin but He has paid for it and dealt with it Himself.

Here Paul wants us to experience the shock and sense of liberty and gratitude as the one who could condemn us, has set us free.

A real, unbreakable connection

Paul, who had been through more in his life than most, was utterly convinced that God's love would never be taken away from him. Paul knows that God is for Him and nothing can separate Him from that. All the riches in the Gospel are ours, forever.
